Hey there, fellow explorers!

I’m Andrew. A young ordinary guy who has the extreme privilege to take long breaks to travel around the world (currently to over 50+ countries) while working full time for the rest of the year.

When I graduated from college with a liberal arts degree in 2013, I took the traditional 9-5 career path like many young adults did. In the next 3 years, I was busy ticking off life achievements like obtaining a CPA designation, buying a house, and cruising in a new car—a classic young adult checklist.

Then I ask myself: What is next? What do I want to achieve in life? What do I value in life?

But then came May 2017, and I took off on my first solo trip, starting in Izmir, Turkey. Picture this: going on a local bus without knowing the local language but was able to get to where I wanted only because of a bus load of unexpected helpful passengers. Moments like this taught me that life is more than a checklist. It’s about embracing the unknown.

My adventures has unveiled an uncomfortable  truth—I’d been playing it safe and not living to the fullest. I quickly fell in love with the spontaneity of backpacking culture. Yet, it wasn’t the instragram photo spots, but the people I encountered at some of the most unexpected place, such as the random traveler who was stuck in elevator with me or challenged me to try out the weirdest street food together.

Shortly after, I started my own accounting practice, which gave me the flexibility to take longer breaks. As my practice grew in the next few years, I became a partner at a local accounting firm that shares similar values.

Today, I embrace the part time digital nomad lifestyle and take 4-6 months a year working remotely while exploring this amazing planet.

Life’s short, right? If you keep putting off what makes you feel most alive, you might run out of time. I am extremely blessed to be able to do what I do: experience many unbelievable places that the world has to offer, while being able to do what I truly love.

I started this blog to share my backpacking adventures from around the world and the life lessons I have learnt throughout this journey. Cone along for the journey.
